Macclesfield Half Marathon - 26th September 2010

Message from Colin Ardron...

The race is fast approaching and we are down on entries compared to the same time last year! Are you doing your bit to publicise the race?

It would be great if every member of the club recruited one person to run the race. How you do this is up to you -it could be by encouragement, nagging, bribery, threats or a combination of all of these. If you are not helping on the day, then why not enter the race yourself? Don't want to hear excuses, if my daughter can do it off virtually no training last year, then so can you. She said that completing her first half marathon gave her more satisfaction than eating a giant bag of honey coated popcorn. Now if you knew my daughter's sweet tooth you would be as amazed as I was by this confession. So don't be a wuss, there is still time to get some training in and recruit someone else as well. It's a highly rated event judging by the very positive feedback from previous participants and all proceeds go to two deserving charities, East Cheshire Hospice and the Macclesfield Track Appeal. So what are you waiting for?

Track Sessions Cancelled, XC Update
Written by John Bunyan

*** ANNOUNCEMENTS COVERING 12/1 TUESDAY AND 14/1 THURSDAY TRACK SESSIONS, CHESHIRE XC CHAMPS, SCHOOLS CHAMPS ***

Hi All, We inspected the track last night during a training session. The track itself is still deep snow, with the surrounding areas compacted snow.

I have therefore cancelled the track and clubhouse for tonight.

However for athletes over 15-seniors, I am proposing the following:-

Meet in the bottom overflow car park of the LC @6.30pm. Wear suitable outdoor clothing. The session will then transfer to the activity suite inside the centre. We will then warm up and undertake some circuit training, followed by some outdoor runs round the overflow park and Fallibroome car park. The session will finish at 8.00pm. Pick up from the overflow car park.

As regards Thurs - if the outdoor conditions do not improve, we will try to book something at the end of tonight's (tuesday) session. There are Two badminton courts available
and part of an activity suite at a later time.

The harriers commitee meeting can also take place in the LC if necessary in the Meeting room or the bar.

Other info. Cheshire clubs county XC champs at Reaseheath rearranged for Sat 13th Feb. Entry deadline extended to 6 Feb- see cheshireaa.com for more details.

Schools Cheshire XC champs delayed from this Sat to Sat 23rd Jan,same venue and timetable as originally published by Yvette O' Rourke.

Yes I know it clashes with the Northerns at Blackburn- any athletes entered in both should I suggest talk to their school PE teachers.

Regards, Bob.
